UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME

UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME

Our first committee is UNEP which is a beginner-level committee!

This committee discusses policies for the promotion, development and implementation of renewable energy sources worldwide. In today's world, dependence on fossil fuels leads to critical problems such as global warming and environmental sustainability. Therefore, promoting renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass, increasing energy access and reducing carbon emissions are among the top priorities of global environmental policies.

By addressing the economic, technical and political barriers to the transition to renewable energy, the Committee aims to strengthen cooperation between governments, the private sector and civil society organizations in line with sustainable development goals. It will also focus on financing clean energy infrastructure in developing countries, inequality of energy access and innovative solutions to tackle climate change. Delegates will present concrete proposals to make renewable energy sources more efficient and widespread by developing policies to increase international cooperation. UNEP will focus on developing effective and feasible strategies based on scientific evidence to accelerate the global energy transition and build a sustainable future.
